Agriculture & Food Security

Rural Aid Foundation strives to ensure rural communities and persons affected by conflict and disaster have access to food. We provide advocate and empower communities to embrace food preservation mechanisms like food processing, packaging, storage and training them in after harvest food management services.

We train rural communities in value addition to agricultural products. Our community driving factor is to ensure communities shift from subsistence agriculture to large scale farming.

We do this by organizing village agriculture competitions mainly for rural youth. Under this model, our team works with the local village leaders to identify the most outstanding farmer (based on the size of land cultivated in a season, the number and diversity of domestic animals he or she has and the use of modern farming methods).

We provide prizes to such farmers including pesticides, seeds, animal feeds, processing their farm products and packaging, bicycles to transport their products to the markets. This creates a spirit of competition this promoting large scale farming.
